Associate of Applied Sciences in Aeronautical Technology Pilot Development
About the Program
The pilot training program prepares students for FAA certification as a private, instrument, commercial, and multiengine pilot. This is done in a partnership with the Aeroism Flight Academy. Instruction is provided in the latest technically advanced aircraft and simulators providing FAA/Industry Training Standards (FITS) approach to training. This program creates scenario-based, learner-focused training that encourages practical application of knowledge and skills.
The goal is to help pilots of technically advanced aircraft, which have more automation and often greater performance capability, develop the risk management skills and in-depth systems knowledge needed to safely operate and maximize the capability of these aircraft in the National Airspace System. In other words, be prepared to be a highly skilled airline pilot.
All ground training is provided by the Aeronautical Technology Department at the San Jacinto College central campus. Flight training is done at nearby Ellington Field.
